[ale] Debian netscape ->won't retrieve mail, "no username", but there is...huh ?

Good Evening,

Under Debian2.2_v3 and Communicator4~ , when I click on "Get Msg", I get
the error message:

	Netscape is unable to use the Mail Server because you have not provided
a username.
	Please put one in Preferences and try again.

But there is one in preferences and I've tried replacing it several
times.

What's wrong  and how do I fix it, please ?
