[ale] keyboard configuration

i recently installed SuSE 7.3 professional, and i am running into an 
annoying little problem.  when i go into X, my keyboard switches to a 
German Layout.  I use YaST2 to change it to US, but every time i enter 
X, it goes back to German.  In text mode, it is fine, but not in X. 
Anyone know what configuration file this located in?
