[ale] modem advice wanted

I would advise buying a USR Sportster (make sure it's not a WinModem!).  The
official 56K standard was finalized recently and is called V.90 (X2 and 56K
Flex will both be backwards compatible).  Check around on the USR pages, but
I'm pretty sure that if you buy an X2 Sportster, you can download a free
flash upgrade to V.90.  Something like this would probably work really well
with MindSpring's dialups.
