If you're interested in atmospheric radiation levels in the United States
check out enviroreporter.com [1] The beta count is the one you want to pay
attention to.
The beta monitoring stations for many cities are non-functional but
there's enough data from the functioning ones to be somewhat alarming,
especially if you live in the West.
