[ale] deleting gentoo portage

Hi,

Does anybody use Gentoo?  I've been using it for a project and 
found /usr/portage is 700 megs.  For this project I duplicate the hard drive 
and put the dupe into another system.  So reducing the file system by 700 
megs is appealing.

Can the /usr/portage dir be be re-built using an emerge command if needed?
