[ale] RH 4 ES hardware testing

I've got a Redhat 4 ES (x86) box that is just having all sorts of
suspicious issues.  Notably heavy-use java applications seem to crash...
and debugging that is proving to be a pain.   I'd like to rule out
hardware problems by running some high intensity testing apps on it
(things like memtest).  What apps are available for I/O, disk, etc type
testing?
