Courtney,
Just remove the cruft from /tmp to gain some immediate space. Check
/var/tmp as well. Additional spots to check for removable or backupable
files are /usr/tmp (usually linked to /var/tmp), possibly in /var/log
you would have gzipped log files you could burn to a CD or offload to a
backup, or under /var any running servers with growing logs such as from
webservers that could be rotated and moved to backup.
