For example:

NFS = Network File System
NSF = National Science Foundation

I screw that up all the time!

I've messed up with APIC vs ACPI more than once now, and both are 
possible kernel parameter options...

I went looking via Google and found lots of sites dealing with this 
subject.  Here is a good one I've run into before:


STP:

Secure Transfer Protocol
Shielded Twisted Pair (cable)
Signal Transfer Point
Synchronized Transaction Processing
Standard Temperature and Pressure
