[ale] Acronym Hell

How many acronyms can you come up with on the spur of the moment?  How 
many duplicate acronyms used in other realms of life we walk in?  How 
many are so similar that you constantly get them confused?

For example:

NFS = Network File System
NSF = National Science Foundation

I screw that up all the time!

I've messed up with APIC vs ACPI more than once now, and both are 
possible kernel parameter options...

I went looking via Google and found lots of sites dealing with this

Signal Transfer Point
Synchronized Transaction Processing
Standard Temperature and Pressure
