Yeah, I would go to the Intel site and check the specs out.  I'd look 
for things like system requirements.  A real hardware modem will work 
with a 286 and up.

I find it hard to believe you're going to get a real hardware modem for 
$11, but at that price, it's almost worth the price to see.
