Marietta Homebrew Supply (1335 Roswell Road #660, Marietta GA,
(770)509-1419) is my preferred source for hops, grain, and yeast, but
it's a good hour's drive from my home. Wine Craft (5920 Roswell Road
NW, Atlanta GA, (404)252-5606) is one of the oldest places in town
and also worth a visit. They bravely stocked homebrew kits and supplies
in their store when it was still technically illegal to brew beer in
Georgia, and got raided by the GBI a couple of times for their trouble.
There are several other homebrew suppliers in the Atlanta metro area;
you'll have to balance price, accessibility, and coolness
yourself. Don't neglect your local grocery store and woods; I've brewed
up some fine batches of sassafrass-flavored beer, and used some exotic
sugars for boosters.

The best homebrew book I've found is "Brewing the World's Great Beers: A
Step by Step Guide", by Dave Miller (Storey Books, Jun 1992, ISBN
 0882667750). Many people recommend Charles Papazian's "The Complete
Joy of Home Brewing" (3rd Edition, Harper-Collins,Sep 2003, ISBN
0060531053), although I personally have not had great luck with his
recipes. You might also want to check out the Covert Hops Society
(<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.coverthops.com/";>http://www.coverthops.com/</a>), the local Atlanta homebrew club. I'm not
active with them, but they hold regular meetings and competitions.
