I prefer to install the "uucp" package and use "cu" from there. You
don't telnet to the port as much as use cu/hyperterm to connect. Some
people I know also use kermit and minicom.
Thus spake Jonathan Glass (IBB) (jonathan.glass at ibb.gatech.edu):
> How do I telnet to a serial port? In Window$, I open Hyperterm, and
> connect to "COM1" at the needed BAUD settings, and everything worked.
> What is the trick in Linux? I've Google'd, check the man pages for
> telnet, to no avail.
