[ale] Stupid question.....

I have an old k6-2 machine that has rh 6.2 
installed on it.?? It has worked nicely in the past, but now it has kernel 
panic before it even starts running init scripts (unable to dereference null 
pointer at virtual address 0000000c).?? I've tried swapping out the ram, but 
then the kernel panic only changes to "unable to handle kernel virtual paging 
request".
??
I tried booting the red hat rescue cd, but it hangs 
on a blank screen immediately after loading vmlinuz.
??
Could this possibly be a motherboard 
problem?
