[ale] Right Button quit working [3-Button Mouse]

Greetings !

Running Debian-2.4.6 with XF86Config-4, my mouse is OK except that now
the Right Button doesn't work when on the X desktop, e.g. to kill/delete
Icons. It worked yesterday but I've been trying to change X and this is
a consequence.

I have gone back and reinstalled X but the problem persists.

How is it resuscitated, please ?
