[ale] samba question

I am starting to configure my samba server, but  right from the get-go I ran
into this problem:

smbclient //mainserv/rick
SSL: Error error setting CA cert locations:
error:00000000:lib(0):fuct(0):reason(0)
trying default locations.
Connection to mainserv failed

At this point I am not sure what to do next.  The Samba book (about 2 years old)
 I have doesn't cover this problem.
The SSL-RedHat-HOWTO refers to setting things up for Apache, but I am not sure
how/if this applies to this error.
