Michael,
  I received similar errors in Windows and Linux when my heatsink to my
cpu wasn't fully connected.  Windows would crash pretty quick.  Linux
would run until I attempted to do something, like recompile the kernel.  
Then I'd get a SIG11 error.  Don't know if this is your problem, just passing
it along as a FWIW.
