AFAIK, 999, or 9999, etc are only used by old, old COBOL and/or PL/1
programs reading in data in some card format - why use a valid date
as an end marker when you have the much better 99/99/99 (999999) date,
assuming that you even use the date field for a marker.

Nothing in Lunux should have any such problems - and I doubt any existing
system in any important capacity have such a feature.
