Depending on your distribution, you might have to get a new getty
program, I'm using mgetty as follows:

s0:2345:respawn:/usr/local/sbin/mgetty -n 1 -x 3 -s 38400 ttyS2

-n N     answer after N rings.
-x 3	debug level
-s 38400	port speed
