FWLIW - I think that is a bit harsh, even if mostly accurate.
I love GVoice for sending & receiving texts across multiple devices, some
of which aren't cellular - or wired - at all :).
*(Also have phone calls ring not just my phones, but Skype and GChat as
well ...)*
