Good ol' BSD vs. GPL
It might be good to give Peter Linebaugh's "Magna Carta Manifesto" a
read for some understanding both on how the "tragedy of the commons"
never actually happened, and how the popular struggle for access to
the commons is what eventually gave rise to Parliament and
participatory democracy.
