email for private communication is a Bad Idea (TM)
 as has been thrashed over again and again,...

lack of adoption implies remailer anonymity in practice denied.

instead i would focus on designing and building low latency anonymous
protocols resistant to traffic analysis and confirmation attacks.
latency kills effective privacy!
