[ale] Managing Netgroups in passwd file with Salt?

Good morning all,
I was wondering if any of you know of a clever way to manage netgroups 
at the end of the passwd file with Salt states?  I haven't found 
anything remotely close to a way with my google searches, and I'm 
beginning to think it is not an option.
I'm wanting to centrally manage that, as opposed to just
echo "groupname" >> /etc/passwd

Any ideas?
