For me, the most interesting part of the story was that David Tomaschik
was an ALE member for many years while at KSU and gave a number of
presentations to ALE-NW.
He's still active, when in town, with the local DC404 group.
As for computerized doors, I wouldn't trust them for many reasons, but
I'm not very trusting of most technology when it comes to security.
