Detached processing? Putting jobs into the background.
I use it all-the-time, so that disconnects do NOT end long-running
processes.

On some systems, I use a tool called TaskSpooler to manage long-running
tasks, in order.  TaskSpooler is like 'batch', but friendlier and
doesn't send email as output like batch does. There are log files instead.
