[ale] Laptop as wifi hotspot issues

Hello all,

I've almost got all my ducks in a row for using my laptop as a hotspot, but
I've got a few nagging issues

1) a WIn7 laptop cannot connect, while a WIn8 one can
2) a Samsung Galaxy S4 can connect but my el-cheapo Azpen tablet cannot

Neither of the fialure cases seem to log anything, so I"m somewhat stumped

Tech Details:

Fedora 20, hostapd controlling the wifi USB dongle, NetworkManager
configured to skip teh wifi f=dongle, dnsmasq running for dhcp/DNS

Any/all suggestions appreciated
