While I was living in Macon in the late 1980s I had a co-worker who
turned me on to Niven's "Known Space" stuff, of which /Ringworld/ and
its sequel(s) are part of. Many intriguing ideas, including a race for
whom cowardice is such a virtue that they call their leaders "hindmost,"
i.e., he who is hiding behind everyone else.
