The "file" command can tell you if the binaries you're looking at are
32-bit or 64-bit. For example:
[mbt at aloe ~/Projects/naunet/sgburn/src]$ file sgburn-drive.o
sgburn-drive.o: ELF 32-bit LSB relocatable, Intel 80386, version 1
(SYSV), not stripped
[mbt at aloe ~/Projects/naunet/sgburn/src]$ file sgburn-drive.o
sgburn-drive.o: ELF 64-bit LSB relocatable, x86-64, version 1
(GNU/Linux), not stripped
