[ale] SATA PCI card or external USB enclosures?

They all work. The pci (not express) will not be USB 3 or sata3 capable.
Depending on your need, the easy swap sata devices where you just drop in
the drive are nice. I've had concerns for cooling with high capacity drives
and passive full enclosures.
I use raw cables :-)
