[ale] Smartphone/ROM recommendations

Hey folks, any recommendations (for/against) a smartphone (&
ROM, possibly for later) for T-Mobile (GSM)?

I couldn't attend the "alternate ROM" presentation sometime back. :(

T-Mobile itself has Samsung, HTC & LG.
Looks like Cyanogenmod might be "good" (for whatever
definition there is of "good," hah) but what else is there to
be sought/avoided?

Any notes from Charles' presentation?
