I'd stick with LTS version of Ubuntu server for production uses.
Canonical is targeting other markets (Desktop/tablet low end users)
and I wish them the best, I find myself considering straight Debian
or the RedHat/Centos/RPM world for their corporate support (not for us, 
for our customers).

We'll be playing more soon to answer that question.
