I am not sure if this the samething you are wanting to do, but
opennebula is a nice tool to use to manage kvm, and you can set up
your own little cloud. I doing with this with openSUSE but it cn be
done with Ubutu as well.

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD,? an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
