[ale] Ubuntu to Debian Switch?

I have switched any number of distros on my laptop, keeping /home
intact+ mail & bookmarks..
even went from KDE to gnome to LXDE to XFCE..
my current configuration is Debian Squeeze with trinity KDE 3.5
and XFCE..
