[ale] spoiled by package management

So, I'm trying to build kiosktool from source.  I get the following error:

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (headers and 
libraries) not found. Please check your installation!

Confused as I have:

qt-3.3.6-23.el5
qt-devel-3.3.6-23.el5

So what else could it be looking for??
