Is more likely region issue. PC DVD drive are normally region free. Years back they were region locked. PAL or NTSC DVD should be played normal as far as DVD player is with NTSC output video. Not sure for french SECAM system though. I guess if your DVD player is region free and good with quality mechanics/optics there will be no problems at all.
