[ale] Building a Radius Server

Alers,

New company, new startup.
We got an account where we need to build a Radius server for it that
syncs with Active Directory - I volunteered for it. I have never built
one before and this one needs to be ready by the end of next week.
I have found this site
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-radius/ and also looked on
Zentyal, which seems like I can have a server ready pretty much out of
the box.

Need advice on:

1 - Which approach is more reliable/stable; Zentyal or from "scratch"?
2 - If from scratch, can somebody point me to "howtos" where
troubleshooting is also included?
3 - Anything you can think of to help :-)
