[ale] remote x apps crash X11

So, I've got Fedora 12 installed on a laptop.  If I run an remote X 
application as in:

ssh -X mac thunderbird

It crashes my X11 session on the laptop.  Not immediately, but 
eventually.  Anyone have a clue why this might be happening?
