Barcamp Atlanta is coming up Friday Nov 5 and Saturday Nov6 at the
Georgia Tech ATDC on Fifth Street in downtown Atlanta. They have a
meetup group ( http://www.meetup.com/BarCamp-Atlanta/ ) for specific
information.
BarCamps (if you don't already know) are participatory seminars
modeled after O'Reilly Books's annual Foo Camp. It's sort of a
cook-your-own seminar event ( http://barcamp.org/ ). This one will be
the 4th annual Atlanta BarCamp. The event starts Friday night at
18:00, and if you're brave you can spend the night inside the building
and hang out//talk//play clear through 'til the end on Saturday
afternoon. I've been to every one and can tell you that it's a whole
lot of fun. You'll meet a great range of wild engineers, software
cowboys, crazy inventors, and other bright, technically-inclined
people. Plus, they'll feed you meals, and Friday night after the
seminars there's Beer! What's not to like?
Fairness impels me to point out that Microsoft is a part-sponsor of
this event.
