Harvard University has posted their "Introduction to Computer Science I /
OpenCourseWare" CS50.
http://cs50.tv/2009/fall/
The material includes:
  all class lectures in Flash, Quicktime and MP3
  lecture notes
  syllabus
  assignments
  quizzes
  a google-group open for discussion
  a downloadable appliance - virtual Ubuntu JeOS machine - to give everyone
access to a compiler for assignments

Even though I am running Ubuntu, I downloaded and installed the appliance.
The online instructions are detailed and clear.

I think this is yet another example of Linux making great technology
available for more folks.
