[ale] OT - OSX hostname

I ran into an interesting situation today.  I had a mac user get a
little concerned because the hostname of his mac assumed the name of
another computer on the network.

This person would not have known how to change the name nor have any
reason to do so.

The only thing I can think of is something weird going on with DHCP, but
still...

Any ideas? And sorry for the OT, but I know others on here use macs too.
