Indeed, for every successful medication they come out with, you must figure
a minimum of 15-20 that failed at some point in the testing, and those costs
get sunk.  The only way to recover from that is to capitalize on the
successful ones.

I'm not trying to be an apologist for them, and I understand the disparate
pricing mechanisms. I'm simply saying that the costs are humongous in that
arena, and the failure rates are high.  Not exactly a market one jumps into
without resources.
