why don't you make a separate partition for /home. Everytime I do an install I
make sure I create 2 partitions ( at least). 1 for / ( root, the base
install) and 1 for /home. When I reinstall, change distros, whatever, I can
always format / and reuse /home. If you tell it to use the same user, you
don't lose anything.
