[ale] Need help loading sound driver

Hi,
I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.04 where the sound drivers worked great, 
to Ubuntu 9.10, where the sound card is not visible to configure.  
However it is recognized by the system somehow, so I guess the drivers
have not caught on,,
