[ale] Firefox Update Issue

I recently updated my SuSE-10.2 Firefox from -2.0 to -3.5.4. The new 
installation works fine, except when I try to edit 'Preferences' I come up 
with a blank entry panel. When I look at the default configuration file I 
do seem to have inherited the earlier preferences (proxies, etc.) but I 
can't view nor change them from the browser. Any idea how to get the edit 
panel back? I don't care about losing the old preferences.
