I personally use the CIS benchmarks here:
https://community.cisecurity.org/download/
They come with a guide, a java-based scoring tool, as well as sets of
shell scripts to confirm proper configuration of each section in the guide.
CIS seems to focus on applications a bit more than the NSA...so a
conglomeration of the two would make my servers nigh impregnable.
