[ale] missing xorg.conf

Does anyone know why the following command would fail to create a new
/etc/X11/xorg.conf file?

# dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

I know that command usually creates a new xorg.conf file. But on a new Dell
760, it seems to do nothing.
