In case you missed it... Adobe has release a Beta of Flash Player v10.
  It seems to improve on some of the Firefox hangs when visiting sites
that use Flash.

FWIW, I don't use their installer, I just put libflashplayer.so into
~/.mozilla/plugins/ and restart FF.  Obviously make sure that you
remove any other copy of libflashplayer.so that might be on your
system (check /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins,
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/, etc.)
