I appreciate your generosity, but I wound up getting
a refurbished (and slightly nicer) machine at MicroCenter
and the putting hard drive and wireless card from my old
one into it.
Thanks to everybody for the help. MicroCenter is not the
kind of place I had in mind, where I could have opened up
my machine on a table, tried a few used parts out for quick
diagnosis, and then bought parts. Maybe one of the Mom &
Pop stores on Jimmy Carter Blvd. would have helped me do
something like that.
I was really impressed by the level of knowledge that the
staff possessed, though. They were very polite and helpful,
too.
