I've been using BackupPC for years to back up both my Linux and Windows 
boxes.  When I've recommended it in the past, some have complained that 
it is confusing to configure (I guess confusing is in the eye of the 
beholder -- it's not point and click and does require some non-trivial 
configuration, but the docs are good, it works well and once set up is 
rock solid.
