[ale] Xorg w/ GeForce 6100 and an almost blank screen

No, the closed nvidia driver is in place and was installed after the kernel.  Also, things started to work when i put the mode "1024x768" explicitly in the appropriate Display subsection.  But, when I set it to "1280x1024" (the LCD monitor's native resolution), I'm back to the black screen with the one line.
