If you want to have some real format fun, try getting a google document to export to any format where the layout remotely resembles the original.  They don't hold your data hostage... But it won't come out looking like it did when you put it in.

Gmail's view as HTML is completely useless. I have yet to see even a
basic document be rendered correctly.
